Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 13, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Ember Technologies, LLC (“Ember Technologies,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with your use of Rhyme (the “Service”), our speech-to-text writing canvas tool.

By using Rhyme, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We aim to minimize data, never sell your data, and give you control to delete your content and account.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • Your use of the Rhyme app and any related websites, applications, or services that link to this Policy.

  • All users of the Service, regardless of location, subject to additional rights described for specific regions (e.g., EU/EEA, UK, California).

This Policy does not apply to third-party services that we do not own or control, even if they integrate with Rhyme.

2. Information We Collect

We aim to collect only what we reasonably need to operate and improve Rhyme.

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information

    • Email address

    • Password (stored in a hashed form)

    • Profile details you choose to provide (if any)

  • Documents & Text Content

    • Text you create, edit, and store in Rhyme (documents, notes, transcripts, etc.).

  • Audio Input (Speech-to-Text)

    • Audio you submit for transcription.

    • Transcribed text generated from your audio.

  • Support & Communications

    • Messages you send to us (e.g., email support, feedback, bug reports).

    • Any information you include in those communications.

2.2 Payment & Subscription Information

If you subscribe to paid features, payments are processed by third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe, App Store, Play Store).

  • We may receive limited billing-related information (e.g., last 4 digits of card, expiration month/year, transaction IDs, subscription status).

  • We do not store your full payment card number on our servers; that is handled by the payment processor.

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

When you use Rhyme, we may automatically collect:

  • Usage Information

    • Basic usage events (e.g., app opens, feature usage, error logs).

    • Aggregate metrics (e.g., number of documents, session length).

  • Device & Technical Information

    • Device type and operating system

    • App version

    • Approximate region or language settings (if your device shares them)

We use this primarily to maintain the Service, debug issues, and improve user experience. We do not use this information to sell targeted advertising.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information we collect for the following purposes:

  1. To Provide the Service

    • Transcribe speech into text.

    • Store and sync your documents so you can access them.

    • Maintain and secure your account.

  2. To Process Payments & Manage Subscriptions

    • Enable purchases of subscriptions or other paid features.

    • Coordinate with payment processors for billing and receipts.

  3. To Improve and Maintain Rhyme

    • Diagnose and fix technical problems.

    • Monitor usage patterns at an aggregate level (not to profile you individually).

    • Improve accuracy, reliability, usability, and performance.

  4. To Communicate with You

    • Respond to your requests and questions.

    • Send service-related updates (e.g., changes to Terms, policy updates, important service notices).

  5. To Comply with Law and Protect Rights

    • Comply with legal obligations or lawful requests.

    • Protect our rights, property, safety, and those of users or the public.

We do not sell your personal information or your content.

4. Audio & Speech-to-Text Processing

Rhyme converts your speech to text using our own systems and/or trusted third-party providers acting on our behalf.

  • Audio is processed for the purpose of generating text and providing the Service to you.

  • We may temporarily store audio or transcription data to complete the processing and improve reliability.

  • We do not sell your audio or transcription data to third parties.

  • We do not use your transcripts to create advertising profiles.

Where possible and practical, we minimize retention of raw audio and focus on storing only the resulting text that you choose to keep in your documents.

5. Data Storage, Retention & Deletion

5.1 Storage

Your data (including documents and account information) may be stored on secure servers operated by us or our service providers, which may be located in different regions or countries.

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age.

  • If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it as soon as reasonably practicable.
